WHAT WE’RE ABOUT
-
The South Sound Block Party is owned and produced by a small, grassroots team based in Olympia, WA. We have a deep reverence for the PNW musical canon and our mission and vision is below. If you’d like to chat about the festival or get to know us, we’d love that – please get in touch.
We aim to help spotlight, preserve and contribute to the historic and legendary Olympia music scene for years to come.
We aim to build community through unforgettable events, artist advocacy and development and amplifying Olympia’s identity as a music town and destination.
Our annual community event features regional, national and international music while highlighting local music and commerce at an affordable price point.
We provide revenue, jobs, and experience for the working musicians and production community in Thurston County.
We are an annual memory-maker, a summer highlight and will continue to work to be a source of pride for the local community.

Love and respect will be expected of all those in the South Sound Block Party community, whether at the festival or online, and any form of hatred or discrimination will not be tolerated. To put it bluntly, BE NICE.
Both the South Sound Block Party site and our social media channels are intended to be a safe space to enjoy live music and our great PNW community. Our zero-tolerance policy includes no sexual harassment or misogyny, no racism, no homophobia or transphobia, no religious or political bigotry, and no acts of violence or aggression.
If you are witness to any act of hate, harassment or discrimination, please report it to a representative of the festival immediately.
We reserve the right to revoke your wristband and remove you from our site if you are deemed too intoxicated, violent, threatening or disrupting to our patrons, volunteers, staff or performers.

At SSBP we are making conscious strides toward an increased level of social and environmental responsibility. This is a long-term and ongoing commitment that won’t happen overnight, but here are some practices being implemented internally at South Sound Block Party:
Examining our recruitment and hiring protocols to increase diversity, equity & inclusion amongst staff and create a pipeline for diverse talent to advance within our organization and the industry.
Implementing policies for sourcing vendors with diverse ownership and those who employ best practices for social and environmental responsibility
Improving on-site safe space and anti-harassment measures, ADA services, security plans and guest services plans to perpetuate a safe, inclusive and love-filled environment.
Using our social media channels to celebrate social and environmental responsibility and employ inclusive practices through the vocabulary we use and the content we share. If you have any thoughts as to how SSBP can be a more socially and environmentally conscious festival, we would be grateful for your input. Please email us at info@southsoundblockparty.com
We will not be using plastic water bottles for our potable water on-site or on stage
We will be using solar generators where we are able to cut emissions from staging, food trucks, lights and more
Do you have ideas or access to environmentally friendly and/or sustainable practices that you’d like us to implement? Drop us a note: info@southsoundblockparty.com we’d love to talk.
